Spiny-Tailed Iguana

I definitely had to do a double-take when I glanced down at the base of this tree…

While most of the iguanas I saw at Manuel Antonio National Park were sunbaking on the rocks by the beach, one had decided that this tree hole was the ideal spot.

I spoke to one of the rangers who said that this iguana regularly hangs out here, and will even defend its spot from other rival iguanas.

Good for you, iguana. Do what makes you happy 👍

Iguanas are fairly common throughout the neotropics, but it’s always a pleasure to encounter these highly photogenic dinosaurs!
