A lot of people have nothing but negative opinions when it comes to mosquitoes. And I won’t lie, most of the time I agree with them. But every now and then, a mosquito comes along that defies your expectations of what a mosquito can be…

This incredible insect was photographed in the Peruvian jungle, and is hands down the most beautiful mosquito that I have ever seen. The metallic blues, purples and pinks make her a true standout in the world of bugs.

Even better, I managed to trick this gorgeous mosquito into posing for a photo. She mistook my silicone phone case for the skin of a tasty animal. I hope she wasn’t too disappointed!
