Skinks are commonly thought of as the small, boring, brown lizards that you’ll often spot right across the country. However, there are well over 300 species of skink in Australia – and that includes one of our national icons, the Blue-Tongued Lizard.
Rainbow Skinks are particularly determined to dispel the myth that skinks are plain and boring! When breeding time arrives, the males break out into stunningly vivid colours in the hopes of enticing a female.
I don’t know about you but if this skink came up to me in a bar, I’d definitely be interested.
