Metalmark Butterfly

Loooook at this butterfly and its adorable little fluffy moustache!

Honestly, there’s not a lot of entomological information available about this particular species – Anteros formosus. There is, however, some interesting etymological information.

Anteros was the Greek god of requited love, famous for punishing those who reject the advances of others, or who scorn the idea of love. Moreover, the specific name – formosus – has Latin origins and means ‘full of beauty’.

So, if you’ve already fallen in love with this butterfly and its beauty-filled moustache, you can rest assured that it definitely loves you back.
