Despite usually being solitary creatures, pelicans will gather in small groups once a year to perform ‘La Pelicarena’ – a ritualistic prayer to the Fish God in order to ensure a bountiful supply of food for the year ahead.

It was truly a privilege to witness this majestic dance in full flight.
