Coronated Tree Frog

Hello your majesty 👋

This beautiful creature is the Coronated Tree Frog. Found in isolated pockets of Central America, these frogs are best known for the distinctive row of spikes across the tops of their heads. Juveniles lack spikes, but they develop as the frog matures, and eventually the spikes and skin on the head hardens into a bone-like structure, which fuses with the frog’s skull!

When trying to attract a mate, males make a distinctive “boop… boop… boop” mating call, which seems appropriate – because don’t you just want to give him a boop?
