Despite only being found in the jungles of South and Central America, snakes like this one almost certainly migrated from France at some point in history.
How can I be so sure? Well, these snakes are affectionately referred to as Snail Suckers, due to their snail-heavy diet. And as we all know, correlation equals causation… right?
Admittedly, snails make up a greater proportion of the diets of Snail Sucker snakes than they do Snail Sucker people, and the snakes haven’t quite worked out how to pair them with garlic and butter yet – but I’m still convinced that they must be French.
In fact, this snake was actually on its way to protest against pension reform when I took this photo.
