I’m calling it. Australia’s most beautiful butterfly. Hands down. Competition over.
This is the stunning Cairns Birdwing Butterfly. Now, I could tell you that it’s Australia’s largest endemic butterfly, with wingspans of up to 15cm. I could tell you that this is a male, and while they’re slightly more colourful, the females are pretty impressive too. I could even tell you that due to a rare genetic mutation, there was actually a golden variation of this butterfly discovered (you can check it out here).
But honestly, I reckon we should all just sit back and bask in the beauty of this ridiculously amazing butterfly. Nature is crazy.
