Sometimes the best animals are hiding in plain sight.
I remember wandering into the jungle one afternoon, hopeful that if I sat and waited in one spot, I’d get some interesting animals appearing as dusk settled in. I spent an hour or two in a small clearing, no more than several square metres, constantly on the lookout for some kind of life. Aside from the constant barrage of mosquitoes, I saw nothing.
Just as I was about to call it a day, someone walked past, asked how I was going and said, “I bet you’ve got some great shots of that lizard, he’s practically posing for you.”
Sure enough, on a tree trunk right in the middle of the clearing, at eye level, was this Borneo Anglehead Lizard.
He must have been watching me the whole time, wondering when the hell I was going to notice him.
