The Australian Jabiru (or Black-Necked Stork) is a gigantic water bird that grows up to 1.5 metres tall with a wingspan over 2 metres. It’s carnivorous and has been known to eat other water birds, including darters. Despite looking quite graceful in the air, the Jabiru has a hilariously clumsy take-off routine which involves sprinting as fast as it can and flapping wildly in an attempt to get its huge body off the ground.
