Amazon Tree Boa

This is one of my favourite snakes from the Peruvian Amazon – the stunning and highly variable Amazon Tree Boa.

Believe it or not, the snake pictured in this post is exactly the same species as the snake pictured in this post.

Amazon Tree Boas come in just about every colour and pattern imaginable, from fairly monotone greyish-whites, to vibrantly enigmatic combinations of black, orange and yellow.

Like all boas, the Amazon Tree Boa is non-venomous and relatively harmless to humans, although the larger ones can still give you a painful bite if you make a nuisance of yourself – so be sure to treat them with respect.
