Leaf-Footed Bug

Need a new ornament for your Christmas Tree this year?

Look no further than this stunning Leaf-Footed Bug!

Leaf-Footed Bugs are sap-sucking insects belonging to the family Coreidae. Their common name comes from the fact that some members of the group have leaf-like protrusions on their hind legs. But this one doesn’t, so the name doesn’t really work.

Given that there’s only one other record of this species on iNaturalist, I think it’s pretty safe to say that we can come up with our own common name for this one.

Bauble Bug? Lean Green Sap-Sucking Machine? Gary?
