Collect The World has arrived in South America!

From Amazonian jungles to Andean mountains and everywhere in between, I’m planning on sharing the stories of the captivating creatures, dynamic destinations and interesting individuals I encounter on my travels in this incredible continent. To kick things off, I hope you enjoy this photo of a cat in Parque Kennedy as much as this cat in Parque Kennedy enjoys life.

Located in Lima’s Miraflores district, Parque Kennedy is a delightful spot to soak up some sun for both humans and felines alike. The park contains dozens of cats who spend their days sleeping, socialising, and receiving an endless supply of scratches behind their ears from strangers. I’m not at all convinced that humans are the smarter species.

The cat at the top of this post decided to pose in front of the Parroquia La Virgin Milagrosa, knowing full well that she would overshadow this iconic church with minimal effort. These cats truly run this park. Apparently they’ve even got a team of anonymous local volunteers that feed them, look after them, and take them to the vet when required. These cats have got it made.

However, I did hear that during the pandemic no one was coming to feed them anymore, and because the cats never learned to hunt or look after themselves, a bunch of them just died. I guess it’s also important not to rely on people too much…
